National Dyslexia Week - Vikki Courtman
As it’s National Dyslexia Week, we wanted to celebrate our very own Vikki Courtman, PTFE and Apprenticeship Tutor, who herself has Dyslexia. Vikki is a fantastic tutor whose dedication, creativity, and understanding make a real difference to her learners. She not only overcomes the challenges Dyslexia can bring but also inspires others to see it as a strength, showing that with the right support, anything is possible. Great job, Vikki – your passion and commitment truly make a positive impact every day!
In Vikki’s own words:
I was not diagnosed until my second year on university, and it came as a bit of a shock but made sense. Getting the support for dyslexia changed everything, suddenly things became easier with extra time on exams and support with academic tasks. I am proud to have dyslexia as it makes me think differently to everyone else and often I can find solutions other can’t. If anything, it’s made me more determined to be successful.
Alex Wright, AMT Tutor, had this to say,
“As Vikki's IQA, I see the work that she has marked and the consistent support she gives her learners. I can honestly say there is no sign at all of dyslexia holding her back. In fact, the feedback she provides is excellent. The positive feedback Vikki receives from her learners—especially during progress reviews—does not go unnoticed. This is a result of her clear and concise communication, as well as the valuable guidance she offers".
